The Difference Between Realtors and Real Estate Agents
Realtor® and real estate agent are often used as interchangeable terms. What you may not know are the distinct differences between the two.
- Realtors® are licensed to sell real estate as agents or brokers but not all real estate agents are Realtors®.
- Realtors® belong to the National Association of Realtors (NAR).
- As members of the NAR, Realtors® must conduct themselves as set forth in the NAR Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice. The NAR Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice was developed in 1913 and contains 17 articles and standards of practice that establish a higher level of conduct than ordinary business practices or those required by law.
- Only Realtors® can display the Realtors® logo.
- Less than half of all licensees are Realtors®.
When you want to hire a reputable real estate representative, consider a Realtor® such as Karyn Schonherz. She has been a professional real estate agent for the over 32 years. She conducts herself according to the NAR Code of Ethics and Standard of Practice. She knows your market whether you're looking in Anaheim Hills or Southern California. If you need a referral to a Realtor® in another market, she will be happy to make that connection for you.
